New Photos!!!

Hehe. Been awhile again. Started on my 2nd assignment this semester. A whopping 40% of my marks hinge on it. So I don't have much time again. However, I've a bunch of photos to share.

First up is Brisbane Festival Riverfire. Its a fireworks festival that's held in Brisbane every year. There was an airshow, featuring red prop planes in the late afternoon. Here's a shot.

The planes made a few passes each time, in different formations. They showed off a few moves that look like they came out of a fighter movie like top gun. Amazing that they can do it all with prop planes.

The show started at 7pm with a flyover from F-111 strike jets. They were really, really cool. With afterburners blazing, they flew past us near the riverbank, breaking the sound barrier. (privately, I think they're not really going all that fast to avoid breaking all our eardrums, and sorry, no pics... Too fast.)

After they flew past... The fireworks started, here are a few shots. Not very good ones though. I need a better camera. XD

Amazing isn't it. I hear that the bill for the fireworks goes into the billions of AUD every year. It was so cool. There wasn't a picture, but there was a scene where the bridge nearby where I was standing started spewing sparklers, and it was like a waterfall of sparks that was flowing under the bridge. You just have to have been there to imagine.

On the 23rd of September, there was this huge dust storm that came over Brisbane, I hear that it was the biggest dust storm in 40 years. It came from Sydney way and made the skies turn yellow as... well... not really yellow, more like 'kunyit-coloured''. My Math lecturer said that in some places in Brisbane outskirts, the visibility was so bad people couldn't see their hand in front of their faces.

Imagine my shock when I woke up and the skies were yellowy. XD Here's a few pictures I took on the way to a lecture.

Seriously, it was really hazy. Made me wish I brought my H1N1 scare vintage face mask out. I saw a few people wearing them too. There was a street vendor selling face masks for 6AUD a pop.

On Thursday, 24th September, there was a combined lifegroup meeting. Which was..... huge.... Here's a few pictures so you can see the scope.

Overall... I think there were over 40 people there. And that's not counting the ones that weren't able to make it due to other stuff... Amazing isn't it. Praise God!!

Alright. That's it for today. Next week is Spring Break. That means its holiday. I won't be doing much holidaying though. Assignments to do. Although I'll be having a little dinner at my place on Monday. XD

Seeya.

Hisashiburi danna?

Whooo!!! Been a while huh. about 2-3weeks since my last blog post. Been rather busy and stuff. What with midsemester exams and assignments to complete.

What've I been doing? Regular stuff. Doing homework, going to lectures/tutorials, lifegroup and church. XD

The highlights of my life has been church actually. The times with God and the times I spend with my friends in church. On the 29th of August, there was a Band of Brothers thing going on with all the brothers of the church and a Simply Women thing for all the sisters. I didn't go for the morning session, which was at Mount Cootha. I did attend the night session though. No pictures... sorry.

On 30th, I took this picture of 2 of my friends in lifegroup. I really look up to them, they are really mature Christians and besides that really fun to hang out with too. Here they are: Gin(Pethuel) and Xi!!!
Gin's wearing Joan's dog collar... it does look cool on him though... XD
And Xi's well... being Xi. Cool as a cucumber.

On Monday the 31st... yay! National Day for Malaysia... Actually I didn't realise it until I had a conversation with my mom. LOL

That Monday I had a few friends over for dinner(Lotus Root Soup). Gin, Tracy, and Joan showed up for dinner, and we had a good time. Played this game called Jungle Speed which was really really hard to play, due to the complexity of the game.

The next day after classes, I went to Xi's house for a game session. I know I know. MidSem is coming soon... But I did some studying earlier and now I wanna relax.
Played Xbox and Wii until late. xD

Thursday came around pretty fast. There was a vocal presentation accompanied by a slideshow by David and Christine from Daniel 1. Here's a Pic I took. Hands were shaking then, so its not very clear.

They're really good singers. I like David's voice... he has a good baritone tenor and I just know that some singers would just kill for his vibrato. Christine has a sweet but powerful voice, easily audible. Naturally, both of them are good. They serve in the worship team in church.

Before you know it Monday comes around again. It's the 7th of September.. I have friends over for dinner again(This time its Radish and Pepper Beef Soup). Gin, Tracy, Joan, Xi, Will and Chen get together over the meal. Will brought a whole bunch of spaghetti with him... Wow. XD

We played Guitar Hero on Tim's Xbox until about 10.00pm.

Tuesday was classes again. Morning 2 hours. Went as usual. In the evening however was something new. I went to prayer meeting. Touching Heaven, Touching Deep, it was called. We did touch something of heaven that night. Let me tell you... This church is growing and is strong because of its prayer. I really thank God that he led me here.

After the meeting, I went home and booked the flight tickets back home.

That's it for the past 2 weeks. I'll try to update again next week at the same time and not let too many things pile up. XD

Week 5

Normal things happen during normal week.

Andrew's log, actual date (10th to 17th August)

Ookay... too much Star Trek. XD
On Saturday we took a trip to Mt. Cootha, that's a hill close to Kelvin Grove, 'we' here being me and members of Daniel 3 Lifegroup. It was really pretty and sunny that day, hardly a cloud in the sky.

Here's a few shots:

Bus stop in the city with Daniel 3 on the way to Mt. Cootha

And next we have some jokers fooling around with a shop display
"Why are you looking at me??"

"Don't steal my jacket man!!"

"Is my belt too loose?"

View from Mt. Cootha summit

And the crowning piece...
"Meet Tracy... she's our photographer isn't she cute?"

After we get finished with the view, we walk down the hill... and have a few games, some pizza and fellowship, wonderful fellowship. XD

That's it for today.

Sunday
After church, we go for eats at this Korean food place called Han Woo Ri.

Spiffy, nice place, good ambience, etc. And the food was great too. Here's a copy of shots of the food. Some beef noodle things, I can't remember the name already.

Here's some photos of the whole youth gang from church. In fact, there's three gangs of em. Daniel 1, 2, and count 'em 3.

That's it for this weekend.

Week 4

Week 4 (2nd August, to 9th August)

So... Another week, another blog post. Yay! Routine week, with routine stuff to do. This week was real heavy on the Math so I'm busy plugging away at math problems while doing this. This is a Meatball and Potato dish I made sometime last week that's called Frikadellen.

On Sunday(2nd August) there was this multicultural fiesta thing after church service that most of the church was involved in as sort of an outreach program thing, open to the public and the whole university, I was a bit late in, so I couldn't get good seats and these photos are taken from the back row of the lecture theatre...

I went for the youth group, well they call it Lifegroup here. Theme for this week was Miracles, we discussed what miracles are like, shared a few testimonies of miracles in our lives, etc. etc. We were broken up into small groups for a group prayer and discussion and here's a few photos:

That's it for this week. I'll update again next week.

Week 3

3rd week...(26th July to 1st August)

So...... another week has passed. I went to Hope Brisbane on the 26th. There was this visiting Pastor from Adelaide who was speaking that day. I forget his name... But he was a real funny guy. Suitable for youths I guess.

He gave his testimony on how he was a nihilist, always depressed and couldn't find meaning in life, and so forth. And he shared on how a preacher, who shared in his Uni, while being boo-ed by others touched his life.

He spoke about how wondrous God is, to have created everything and that there can be no mistake in choosing to follow Him, and that there is a great need for workers to share the gospel.

Here's a few photos taken during the service. A little blur, but hopefully still viewable.

After the service, it was about 5-6pm and me and the rest of the CCM people went for dinner together at a chinese restaurant. Here's the photos from said dinner.

So... that's it for Sunday. The rest of the week was the usual... Go to class and study and do homework, nothing really interesting. I took a picture of 2 of my lecturers for you to see.

First up is Mr. Ernest Foo. He's Chinese, but he speaks English with a severe Aussie accent. Friendly and jovial, he also has a very dry humor. He lectures for
INB251 - Networks

This here is Mr. Hasmukh Morarji. He looks quite fierce doesn't he? He's a very serious man, and he expects his students to be serious about classes as well. He lectures for INB351 - Unix Administration.

That's enough about classes. XD
I went for market day on Saturday again, to just see what's new and get a few groceries I needed. Whilst I was walking, guess what I saw... I saw this shop where they were selling like pizza or something. But take a look at this picture...

See what the guy is using? OMG. He's using an antique clothes iron to make his pizza.............. *Jaw drops* (What a waste isn't it, Dad?) XD

That's it for this week. I'll probably be blogging week by week as my schedule is pretty packed, what with home work and stuff.

Cheers, XD

Day 16, Day 17 and Day 18

Day 16(23rd July, Thursday)

No tutorials until week 2. Thankfully. I do my usual morning stuff and get to college at 11.30am for my second Maths lecture. Regular stuff, slightly more difficult than the day before, but nothing too difficult.

I go to Kelvin Grove and meet the CCM guys... Here's a few pictures...

After that I go home to wait for class... and at the appointed time, (I seem to be keeping more to schedules now...) about 20 minutes ahead of schedule. XD

Cisco lessons are......... pretty dull... At least until we get to a practical application. It seems that most of the assessments are... online. Interesting...

After that I go to Adelaide to take a bus to Fortitude Valley to attend a CCM meeting. Theme of the night was: "Iron Chef".

That's right. Its a pot luck cooking competition.

I unfortunately got on the wrong bus, but I get off in time, before I arrive in who know's where... From the stop where I got off, it was only a few minutes walk to Chinatown where I call for help... XD

Will is sent to my aid in a few minutes... Good response time! XD
After the appropriate revelries and fellowship, I go home with the others.

(I don't have the picture, but when I do get them, I'll post them up!)

Sleeptime...

Day 17(24th July, Friday)

I go to class... the first INB251 class. Professor in charge is Ernest Foo. Nice guy. I like his teaching style, very heavy on the dry humor. XD

I go home and then rest... doing homework and stuffs... Fairly uneventful day. I seem to be very very tired today. I rest early tonight.

Day 18th(25th July, Saturday)

I know why I'm so tired. I have a cold. Sneezing, sniffling the works. I rest today and try not to do anything strenous.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be better...
